:: Superficial Harmony ::

Achieving harmony, which is coordination, state of peace and agreement, has been perceived as an ultimate goal in life since ancient times and today. In modern times, a large amount of countries has been pursuing to build a harmonious society in order to obtain stability. Superficially people live in a harmonious atmosphere but in fact the contradiction is throughout their daily life. In order to achieve the real harmony, we have to understand what and how they conflict. The relationship between harmony and contradiction provides an understanding and instructive on creating artwork regarding the form of expression and internal meaning.

 

:: About Monkee Hoi Ieng Lei ::

Miss Hoi Ieng Lei, aka Monkee, was born and raised in Macau Special Administrative Region, China. In 2009 Monkee completed a Bachelor of Design (majoring in multimedia design) at Macao Polytechnic Institute. During her time at MPI, Monkee actively participated variety of competitions and exhibitions, within or outside of the university.

In 2007,  Monkee was the runner-up in the Gilbert Paperworks Award competition and she was also awarded Merit in the Zhuhai – Macau Graphic Design Exhibition in the same year. In 2008, she won a Gold Metal in the student section of Taiwan International Design Competition. During the same year, she was selected as an intern in Midea Lab., Singapore, working on multimedia design and new media art. After graduated from the university, she was working as digital designer in Redworks Macao under Ogilvy, doing interactive design and motiongraphic design. In 2011, she is going to receive the MA degree of Digital Arts given by Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts London.
